Where it Started
Prof Ntambue Kauta, or Jimmy, as he is commonly known, completed his MBChB at the University of Lubumbashi in DRC.
2002

Postgraduate
This was followed by postgraduate specialisation at the University of Cape Town where he obtained his MMED and FC Orth qualifications.
Fellowship
After 2 years of general orthopaedic surgery practice Prof Kauta completed an international Shoulder and Knee arthroscopy fellowship at the Hvidovre University hospital in Copenhagen under Prof Per Holmic.
He returned to Cape Town to start a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at Groote Schuur Hospital and Vincent Pallotti under Professor Stephen Roche and Professor Basil Vrettos (which was completed in June 2021).

Despite his heavy load of clinical and administrative duties, Prof Kauta was able to fulfill all criteria required for the ad hominem process in under 7 years due to his passion for learning and teaching.
He was promoted to the rank of associate Professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Cape Town in October 2024. A title most academics fail to achieve throughout their entire academic lives.
